Information and resources are available regarding the Youth Survey. Below are resources and Data that can be used for grant applications.
All CTC Coalitions implement the CTC Youth Survey, sometimes referred to as the Bach Harrison Youth Survey, Prevention Needs Assessment, or Risk and Protective Factors Survey. This anonymous survey aims to gather information of what our youth are facing when it comes to substance use, delinquency, antisocial behaviors, and violence. The survey gives us needed data to understand the factors that place our youth at greatest risk for substance use, delinquency, antisocial behavior and violence, and also tells us what factors are in place that protect our youth from those behaviors. Youth, and parents, are able to opt out of the survey. Youth may also skip any question(s). No identifying information is asked on the survey.
This survey is evidence-based and allows us to measure changes in youth behavior over time. The youth survey and data collection provide to be a much needed and effective tool to evaluate the effectiveness of current programs. Coalitions facilitate the implementation of the surveys, and there is no costs associated to any school. Surveys are administered every two years to 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, offering a changing snapshot of our community, along with new and persistent risk or protective factors. The CTC Youth Survey is administered via Bach Harrison. Bach Harrison provides technical assistance and research services to local, state, and federal government agencies, and to community-based and private organizations.
Once data is collected, results are compiled into summary form only, by grade level county-wide. Results are analyzed by the Data/Resource Workgroup in each coalition. All community members are welcome and asked to participate to better understand the conditions youth are facing, the programs being implemented in the community, and to gain overall feedback on what is going on in the community. The Community Assessment Report is built as a summary report of what the data shows about each coalition/community. Information from the Community Assessment Report is used to build the Community Resource Report, and finally into creating a Community Action Plan.
